NATURAL SCIENCE - 4th GRADE:
NATURAL SCIENCE - YEAR 4
UNIT: MATTER AND ENERGY
LESSON: ENERGY AND CHANGE - SOURCES OF ENERGY - ENERGY CONSUMPTION
We will start our lesson doing our Unit's song!
Let's think 🤔... How many things around us need energy and why?...Well... We need energy to go from one place to another... A computer needs energy to help us... A light-bulb needs energy to give light... Your headphones need energy to produce music... A refrigerator, a car, a bicycle, an elevator... Basically everything around us that works needs energy... But... Do all those things use the same type of energy?
These two videos explain what is energy and the different forms of energy that we can find. Let's watch the first one:
And the second one gives also very good examples:
Another important thing that we have to think about is... Where to we get our energy from... Well we can get it from:
- Renewable energy sources: Like the Sun, the wind or water... They are good for the planet and we will have them for a very long time.
- Non-renewable energy sources: They generate a lot of energy... But they are bad for the planet and they will be finished (extinguished).
This video illustrates all these different forms of energy:
And this is our lesson's summary:
